Freelancing: The First Week

So here I sit, Friday night at 8:00 in a dark home office,  looking at my monitors full of code.  Against my better judgement, I decide to take the time to document my first week of freelancing.  I say ‘against my better judgement’ because I still have a ton of work to do and not a lot of time to do it.

This has been the hardest week of work in a very long time, but there is so much more meaning behind it now. This is my name, my brand that I’m representing with each line of code I write.  Mediocrity isn’t an option.  And so, better quality comes at the cost of time.

On the other hand, my thirst for getting better and learning more is being satiated.  I’ve learned a lot this week including mobile application development, job queueing, local storage of web data, etc….    I’m guessing you have no idea what that is, but to me, it’s pretty freakin’ awesome.

Another awesome part of this working-from-home thing is being around my dogs all day.  I can’t tell you how cool it is to be able to take a 10 minute break and run around my house like an idiot while my dogs chase me.

Well, that’s it for now.  I have a long night and weekend ahead of me.  Maybe I’ll get back to triathlon training next week, because it sure didn’t happen this week.

That sounds awesome, especially the part about spending time with the dogs!
